The Ski Ward Race Team (SWRT) is a member of the Eastern Massachusetts Buddy Werner League (EMBWL) and operates under its rules and bylaws. SWRT is home based at the Ski Ward Ski Area in Shrewsbury. The 2009-2010 membership also includes the Bradford Ski Team based atSki Bradford in Haverhill, the Nashoba Valley Ski Club (NVSC) based at Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Acton, the Prospect Hill Ski and Snowboarding Team based in Waltham, and Bogastow (formerly Dover-Sherborn). 
 
The Ski Ward Race Team is open to children and teenagers who are interested in skiing competitively. Although no racing experience is necessary, prospective members must be able to ski from the top of Ski Ward with no assistance an be able to ride the T-Bar or chairlift without adult assistance.
 
The competition season consists of eight races (Slalom and Giant Slalom) that take place on Sundays starting in early January. Click here for the 2010 race schedule. Race registration commences at 8:00 A.M. followed by course inspection at 8:30. The race starts promptly at 9:00.
 
The season culminates with the EMBWL championship where the League Season Champion and League Club Champion are crowned.
 
SWRT Practices are held on Friday evenings starting in December (conditions permitting). Practice times are 7:00 - 8:30 (J6 division). 7:00 - 9:00 (J5 and above).
 
Our experienced coaching staff emphasizes solid skiing fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship, race strategy, and, above all, having fun.
